Some business owners work incredibly long hours to keep their businesses going, struggle to make ends meet, and watch their personal lives suffer because they're spending too much of their energy on their business. Often this means that they either burn out from trying to do everything themselves, or get fed up and give away too much responsibility to the wrong employees - which then creates more frustration and burnout when their employees don't do things the way they need them to be done. I help business owners make their businesses work for them by creating simple, efficient, effective systems for running their businesses, hiring the right employees, managing them well, and maintaining personal balance. This means that my clients are profitable AND enjoy their lives at the same time - they become successful both personally and professionally. With Melanie's help I have learned to speak with my employees with more confidence as well as hear their feedback without taking it personally. This has increased my effectiveness as a manager.
Chris Burcham, Image Matters Promotional Merchandise Here's a true story about how one client improved her profitability and enriched her personal life, all at the same time. Notorious Photographer Gains Power and Money While Getting a Life The more successful I become, the less privacy I have - when I go to the grocery store I run into four people who know who I am. It's important for me to have a place to talk about the real issues that come up in my business without worrying about how this information will impact my employees' or clients' perceptions. Coaching is a safe space to be completely honest about my business and my life and how they fit together. Kyle Zimmerman, Kyle Zimmerman Photography In 2003 Kyle was a highly successful photographer in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Most people in town knew her or knew of her from seeing her work or her billboards in prominent locations around the city. She maintained a high profile studio on the main street in the fashionable boutique center of town. And she had a supportive and talented staff working alongside of her. The problem was that she didn't have a place to go to be real about her business. "It's tricky positioning myself as I have. I build relationships with my customers - and I love that -- but then I'm dealing with everyone's projections of who they think I am. It becomes difficult to separate me the person from a public persona. I need a private place to address business issues with an experienced colleague who has my best interests at heart - and I need to know the conversation is strictly confidential." She was also working herself way too hard. "As a small business owner I'm making it all run. I'm the glue. I feel like I have to be there to make it happen. But I want more time for myself - to write - to have a life outside of my business." In coaching Kyle recognized the identities she had taken on in her life that drove her to work overtime and be super human. She began to create more space in her day-to-day for the human side of herself that needs to limit stress and manage commitments. She articulated the specific requirements she had for additional administrative support, identified her beliefs that were standing in the way of finding that person, and hired a new employee. She also realized the conflicts she was feeling in being a manager with employees she values personally. "As I have gotten more clear about the support I need from my staff, and the role I need to play in being the "boss" in the business, I have become more successful and less stressed. I'm gradually learning that I don't need to be perfect to give good service to my clients - and that I don't need to be overly "nice" all the time to be a good manager to my employees. I'm learning how to take better care of myself in this work situation. The business is growing and becoming more profitable as a result - and it's becoming a better and better place to work for the entire staff." Now Kyle is creating new ways to express her unique vision of how peoples' lives are truly art. She is writing a memoir about her own unusual life and developing tabletop books documenting photographic sequences of families and other groups. She teaches classes to share her vision with others in the community and photographs situations or events that call to her, such as the Special Olympics in new Mexico. And she is developing innovative artistic projects incorporating photographs into large architectural montages. Kyle says: "Coaching is all about how my professional life intersects with my personal life and who I truly am and am becoming. You have such a way of helping me see all facets of the crystal. Thanks a million." If you had an opportunity to find support like this for your business and your life with no financial risk whatsoever why wouldn't you take it? I offer a full refund on my services if you are not satisfied at any time in the future for any reason. Coaching can help you get where you want to go faster and more easily.
